After rewatching a bunch of the Predator movies and seeing Badlands in theaters recently, I decided I really wanted to see more of the Predators universe. At first I was going to read the regular comics, but then I realized just how many crossover comics they have with other franchises like Marvel, DC and of course Alien. As someone who’s a big fan of crossovers (I love a good crossover fanfic) I decided instead that I would first try to read all the crossover comics the Predator franchise has to offer, and also rank them in a numbered list based on both how good they are + how much I enjoyed them :) I also had a bit more to say about some of them that I’ll include here as well!

This list will count up from what I consider the worst to what I think is the best, starting with:

13: Free Comic Book Day Aliens/Predator

freecomday

Absolute banger cover art! Although that’s kinda all this one shot offers. Because it’s a free comic book day issue as well as a one shot it’s pretty bare bones and basic. There’s some humans, some aliens, and a predator or two, and not much really happens. Which is why it’s the last ranked on this list.

It did however provide me with this goofy panel of this Yautja who I genuinely can’t tell if he’s smiling or not lol, he looks so joyous

12: Superman and Batman vs Aliens and Predators

SBvsAP

Unlike the last one which didn’t have much going on, this one almost felt like it had too much going on?? Or more so that things would happen or shift that didn’t make sense, or would occur out of nowhere. I might’ve been looking for too much in a random 4 way crossover comic from 2007 I guess. The artstyle also just wasn’t my cup of tea tbh, definitely not my favorite.

There's an interesting concept with the Yautja that almost went somewhere neat before they just kinda throw it out? Idk, maybe bc it's short they couldn't include everything they wanted or tell the story fully but it's just not very good storywise. The yautja in this comic start out with being a group who mistakenly landed on earth during the ice age and were unable to leave, so they went underground and over time developed their own society that's a bit more tame compared to that of the usual yautja we see. But where they have lived underground forever is now no longer safe for them to stay, and when they go out to the surface to search for somewhere new, they are shocked by the humans and civilization that now exists. Thats actually something really interesting to me!

Batman was even able to communicate with them and convinces them to allow him and Superman to help them leave Earth as long as they don't harm humans. All of that sounded pretty cool but for some reason like off page, right after Superman brings them all into his house or whatever to transport them out of the volcano (that's about to get exploded) the Yautja randomly decide to attack and everyone acts like they weren't just working together ?? Then Superman and Batman are like "well I guess you can't change how someone's wired to act" it was so out of nowhere? We already established these yautja as different and more willing to work together and communicate, so why the sudden switch up?

The xenomorphs are also kinda an afterthought, they don’t really do anything until the last issue? And while they cause some trouble they don’t do too much and aren’t necessarily a main focus. A lot of things also happen off page that makes events on page kinda confusing? There's a random government agency who wants to nuke the volcano the Yautja are living under, there’s also a robot Superman that shows up in the 3rd or 4th issue out of nowhere that was not explained so I was left so confused on how Superman was suddenly in two places at once and also somehow a robot?? I guess that would maybe make more sense to me if I was reading other DC or Superman comics from this specific time period.

11: Predator Kills the Marvel Universe

predmarvel

I’m not a huge fan of “insert kills the insert universe” stuff, like media where all your favs die when realistically they’re too powerful to die to whoever is attacking. I don’t care for mean spirited stuff like that and don’t really enjoy watching characters I like get offed in brutal ways lol… however this is only 3, maybe 4 issues in now and Sue Storm is supposed to be a big part of it and I think is going to be the powerhouse that takes them down so maybe I’ll continue reading just to see what goes on with her.

This is also actually a follow up to some other comics on this list, the Marvel specific ones. Kraven The Hunter actually joins up with the Yautja (one specific clan of Yautja to be specific lol) in the spiderman specific miniseries and basically gives them all the info to hunt down all the superheroes on Earth… also the Guardians of the Galaxy whom they easily kill (which just felt like "look we killed fan favs bc we're so serious and edgy).. So idk if you like this kinda concept im sure you’ll enjoy it, you kinda gotta put aside your reasoning and common sense with these to just enjoy the carnage but like I said it's just not for me personally.

10: Predator VS Spider-Man

spiderman

The lowest ranked specific Marvel character vs Predator crossover I have on here. The art itself is pretty nice, the Yautja themselves look great and it has some interesting set up. The problem for me was that set up was kinda all this comic was about. It has no real resolution to me, it just kinda ends abruptly. Spider-Man himself doesn’t do a whole lot in the final fight and it’s more focused on setting up Kraven the Hunter joining the Yautja, which is an interesting concept on its own but again kinda leaves the title character out a bit. Mary Jane and a random girl is here too but again just doesn’t do a whole lot.

This also has two types of Yautja if you like that, one absolutely deranged one and the other Yautja that have come to take him out as he doesn’t follow their code. Except I swear these are the same Yautja that come back in kills the marvel universe so ig they also don’t follow their own code?? I’m not sure.

Probably the most brutal one I’ve read out of the superhero ones surprisingly?? Which is weird considering that there's a Wolverine one too...

9: Predator VS Black Panther

panther

Again with the pretty nice art but just not the best ending, but I still liked the story more that the last two marvel ones. T’Challa gets knocked out way too many times oh my god 😭 this one is interesting and has a lot more story going for it, with some actual backstory for the Yautja themselves who are coming to Wakanda to look for vibranium. The Yautja is a runt and outcast, and wants to both prove himself as the superior brother as well as to get revenge. His design is also very cool! One of the most unique Yautja designs I've seen so far!

Not as brutal as the Spider-Man one and all the characters like T’Challa, Shuri etc are all nice to follow. Wish it got a bit more time to continue on but I understand it’s a miniseries, it also had a somewhat rushed/ unfinished ending just like the spiderman one, but at least it was still primarily focused on black panther and shuri and not some random enemy of theirs lol.

8: Predator VS Batman II
